The store has partnered with a New York beverage container recycler for a new way to process bottle/can returns.
SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury’s Stop & Shop and CLYNK have partnered on a new recycling program in Connecticut
In order to address the low rate of bottle redemption across the state, Stop & Shop and CLYNK Tuesday opened up a new recycling system at the West Simsbury Stop & Shop at 498 Bushy Hill Road.
The goal of this new program is to increase recycling access and sustainability efforts across Connecticut.
CLYNK, a Scotia, N.Y., beverage container recycling company, collects bags full of redeemable beverage containers from the redemption center in the Stop & Shop parking lot.
It then processes them using high-tech barcode scanners that instantly credit the deposits to a Stop & Shop customer’s account.
The materials are then sold to manufacturers to help close the recycling loop and prevent more waste from ending up in landfills and our oceans.
CLYNK offers customers two ways to redeem their containers: “Grow Your Balance” or “$5 Instant Payment.”
Operating like a bank savings account, “Grow Your Balance” customers can collect containers without counting, let their balance accumulate in the CLYNK app, and withdraw up to $99.99 per transaction when they’re ready.
For immediate payment, customers can use the “$5 Instant Payment” option by counting exactly 50 containers per bag, dropping it off at the depot, and redeeming their instant $5 voucher at any Stop & Shop register.
